Remote desktop connections remain active until the logged in user selects “Log Off” from the Start Menu. If a user simply closes the remote desktop window without logging off, the user will still remain logged on.

Unfortunately only up to two simultaneous Remote Desktop connections are allowed by default and active and disconnected sessions are calculated in this connection limit.

If a third simultaneous attempt is made to login to the server “The terminal server has exceeded the maximum number of allowed connections” error will be shown to the user, and they will be unable to complete the login process.

Fortunately, there is a way around this:
If you’re using Windows Server 2003/XP type command below:
mstsc /v:xx.xx.xx.xx /f –console into Start – Run replacing xx.xx.xx.xx with the remote IP

If you’re using Windows Vista/7 type command below:
mstsc /v:xx.xx.xx.xx /f /admin into Start – Run replacing xx.xx.xx.xx with the remote IP

Or you can also using the GUI, type in servername eg: SERVER01 /admin

This will connect you to the remote computer as console/admin.

If you’re not sharing your computer with other users and no one else can access it, you can configure your Vista to login automatically, so you can turn on computer, leave for coffee and it will be ready to use when you back.

To do so, click on Start button and type “control userpasswords2″ or “netplwiz” in the search field, then uncheck the “Users must enter a user name and password…”, provide the username and password you want auto login to and restart computer.

Installation
In order to use homebrew software, you must have ELF loader. There is some loaders available, the best you can have is to install Free MC Boot, once installed on your memory card, it loads automatically when you start your Playstation 2.

Free MC Boot Installation
Here is a great tutorial how to install Free MC Boot: FMCB 1.8 for dummies. Or you can see other tutorials: Tutorials On sksapps.com. Download Free MC Boot installation package here, it includes uLaunchElf application, needed to copy the argon files.

Argon Installation
Before you can use Argon, you need to copy the files to FreeMcBoot apps folder. Download the argon installation package from Argon Official Site. Extract the files and copy to memory stick with computer. Start your playstation, run uLaunchElf, copy all the files without folder to MC0:/BOOT. Now exit the uLaunchElf and configure FreeMcBoot menu to show Argon software in it.

IMAP offers several advantages over POP, you can store the email data on Gmail server so you can synchronize with multiple clients, it has better functionality in manipulating inbox, and the ability to manage email folders within single account.

POP is designed to offer simple offline operations, it downloads email to the phone, and generally removing it from the Gmail server, it doesn’t support email folders.

IMAP

Before you can use email on your phone you must enable IMAP in Gmail:

Sign in to Gmail.

Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.

Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.

Select Enable IMAP.

Configure your IMAP client and click Save Changes.

Now configure your phone:

Select ‘Messaging’ > ‘Options’ > ‘Settings’ > ‘E-mail’ > ‘Mailboxes’.
If you have never set up email on your phone before, select ‘Yes’ to define a new mailbox. If you already have other mailboxes, select ‘Options’ and then ‘New mailbox’.

Select ‘Start’ to begin the setup wizard.

Select ‘IMAP4′ and then ‘Next’.

Enter your full email address (including ‘@gmail.com’) as the email address and select ‘Next’. Google Apps users, enter your full address in the format ‘username@your_domain.com’.

Enter ‘imap.gmail.com’ as the incoming mail server and select ‘Next’.

Enter ’smtp.gmail.com’ as the outgoing mail server and select ‘Next’.

Select the appropriate access point and then ‘Next’.

Enter a descriptive name for the email account mailbox name.

Once your mailbox is set up, select it from the email mailbox settings screen.

Select ‘Connection settings’ > ‘Incoming e-mail’.

Enter your address (including ‘@gmail.com’ or ‘@your_domain.com’) and password.

Select ‘SSL/TLS’ for your security (ports) and define your port as ‘993′.

Select ‘Back’.

Select ‘Outgoing e-mail’.

Enter your email address (including ‘@gmail.com’ or ‘@your_domain.com’) and password.

Select ‘StartTLS’ for your security (ports) and define your port as ‘587′.

Select ‘Back’ and change any other settings according to your preferences.

POP

Before you can use email on your phone you must enable POP in Gmail:

Sign in to Gmail.

Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.

Choose the action you’d like your Gmail messages to take after they are accessed with POP.

If you have never set up email on your phone before, select ‘Yes’ to define a new mailbox. If you already have other mailboxes, select ‘Options’ and then ‘New mailbox’.

Enter your full email address (including ‘@gmail.com’) as the email address and select ‘Next’. Google Apps users, enter your full address in the format ‘username@your_domain.com’.

Enter ‘pop.gmail.com’ as the incoming mail server and select ‘Next’.

Select ‘SSL/TLS’ for your security (ports) and define your port as ‘995′.

If you are using POP3, make sure you’ve opted not to leave messages on the server, so you didn’t download the same email each time you connect.

Note: If you’re having trouble sending mail but you’ve confirmed that encyrption is active for SMTP in your mail client, try to configure your SMTP server on a different port: 465 or 587.

Now you’re ready to use your Gmail in your phone.

Yahoo Mail POP Settings

Currently the only known Yahoo mail service offering POP3 access is Y! Singapore, Y! Indonesia, and Y! Hongkong.

Before using POP3 access, you must activate it first.

Using new yahoo interface

Login to yahoo mail

Options > Mail Options

Pop & Forwarding
At the time this article written, Yahoo still not give access to POP email settings from new interface, so you can click on ‘Set up or edit POP & Forwarding’ link to get classic interface.

Using classic interface

Options > Mail

Pop Access and Forwarding

Choose Web & POP Access

Click Save button

Now configure your phone:

Incoming Mail Server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.com.sg

Use SSL, Port: 995

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.com.sg

Use SSL, Port: 465

Username: (your user name)

Email address: (your email address)

Password: (your yahoo email password)

Note: If you’re using @rocketmail.com or @ymail.com domain, you must use full email address as username.

What is Regular Expression?
Basically, a regular expression is a pattern describing a certain amount of text. Their name comes from the mathematical theory on which they are based. But we will not dig into that. Since most people including myself are lazy to type, you will usually find the name abbreviated to regex or regexp. I prefer regex, because it is easy to pronounce the plural “regexes”.

Click read more to see the script

The Script

' ----------------------------------
' Name : Regex Rename File Script
' Version : 1.0
' Author : Lucky
' ----------------------------------

WScript.Echo "Rename File Script v1.0 by Lucky"
WScript.Echo "================================"
WScript.Echo

Dim args
Set args = WScript.Arguments

Dim pattern
Dim replacement

If args.Count<>2 Then
WScript.Echo "Usage: cscript rename.vbs [searchpattern] [replacement]"
    WScript.Quit()
Else
    pattern=args(0)
    replacement=args(1)
    WScript.Echo "Replace """ & args(0) & """ to """ & args(1) & """:"
    WScript.Echo
End IF

'Start rename
Dim fso,cf,regex
Dim oldname,newname
Dim matches

Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set cf = fso.GetFolder(".")
Set regex = New RegExp
regex.Pattern=pattern
regex.IgnoreCase=True

Set colFiles = cf.Files
For Each objFile in colFiles
    oldname=objFile.Name
    Set matches = regex.Execute(oldname)
    If matches.Count>0 Then
        newname=regex.Replace(oldname,replacement)
        Wscript.Echo "Rename """ & oldname & """ to """ & newname & """"
        objFile.Move newname
    End If

Next

Usage
First you need to copy the script above and paste it on notepad, save it to “rename.vbs”. Regex rename script needs two parameters, pattern and replacement. The script will find matching filename with the pattern in current folder, and replace it to replacement text.

Usage: cscript rename.vbs [searchpattern] [replacement]

Examples
You can use a few examples with the script

#simply rename a file from image.jpg to image2.jpg
cscript rename.vbs image.jpg image2.jpg

#rename some file with wildcards, image?.jpg to picture?.jpg
cscript rename.vbs image(.).jpg picture$1.jpg

#another example with wildcards, rename file start with image to picture
cscript rename.vbs image(.*) picture$1

Limitation
Currently the latest VBScript version 5.5 regular expression engine has some limitation, which are:

No \A or \Z anchors to match the start or end of the string. Use a caret or dollar instead

Lookbehind is not supported at all. Lookahead is fully supported

No atomic grouping or possessive quantifiers

No Unicode support, except for matching single characters with \uFFFF

No named capturing groups. Use numbered capturing groups instead

No mode modifiers to set matching options within the regular expression

No conditionals

No regular expression comments. Describe your regular expression with VBScript apostrophe comments instead, outside the regular expression string

Microsoft Windows XP Pro has built in Web Server called Internet Information Service (IIS). In order to use the feature, make sure your IIS service already activated:

Right click on My Computer, choose Manage

Expand tree Services and Applications

If you see Internet Information Services item, then your IIS service is already installed

IIS Installation
To install IIS Service, follow these instructions to activate it:

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs

Open Add/Remove Windows Components, tick on Internet Information Services (IIS)

Click Next button until it finished

Create a Virtual Server
Check on the Web Sites folder in IIS management console, you may see only “Default Web Site”. If you are a web developer, sometime you need to have another separate web servers. Of course you can also mount a virtual directory to the server, but it will never have root path.

Now you can add another virtual servers which have it’s own root path. IIS have a collection of scripts for administrative tasks such as creating another virtual servers. You can found the scripts on
C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts
, to create a virtual server we can use script file adsutil.vbs. For details, follow instructions below:

Open command prompt, click on Start menu > Run, type cmd and press enter

Go to the scripts folder, type “cd \Inetpub\AdminScripts”

Create new virtual server and copy all the necessary settings using these commands

cscript adsutil.vbs create_vserv W3SVC/2
cscript adsutil.vbs copy W3SVC/1 W3SVC/2

Now you should create a folder for the web’s home directory, for example
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot_secondary

Go back to IIS Management Console, you should see another Web inside Web Sites folder

If you see red icon for the new web, don’t worry it’s normal, Windows tried to start the second web, unfortunately you can only run one at a time

Rename it, right click on Second web, choose rename, type “Secondary Web” for example

Switch The Virtual Server
To switch the running server, you can make batch file running these command:

enable_second_server.bat
cscript C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts\adsutil.vbs STOP_SERVER W3SVC/1
cscript C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts\adsutil.vbs START_SERVER W3SVC/2

enable_first_server.bat
cscript C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts\adsutil.vbs STOP_SERVER W3SVC/2
cscript C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts\adsutil.vbs START_SERVER W3SVC/1

Delete a Virtual Server
To delete you previously created, use this command:

C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts>cscript adsutil.vbs delete W3SVC/2

Even some Internet application doesn’t support NTLM authentication, for example like Download Accelerator. Some browser like older versions of Firefox asking you the password everytime it load a page.

Fortunately, there is some application that can solve the problem. It’s called NTLM Authorization Proxy Server (NTLMAPS), a proxy software written in Python that allows you to authenticate via Microsoft Proxy Server using NTLM protocol. In order to use the software in Windows, you must install python first or you can use Windows version of it (a standalone executable that does not require python to be installed compiled using py2exe).

Main Features of NTLM Authorization Proxy Server

supports NTLM authentication via parent proxy server (Error 407 Proxy Authentication Required)

supports NTLM authentication at web servers (Error 401 Access Denied/Unauthorized)

supports translation of NTLM scheme to standard “Basic” authentication scheme

supports the HTTPS ‘CONNECT’ method for transparent tunneling through parent proxy server

has ability to change arbitrary values in client’s request headers

supports unlimited number of client connections

supports connections from external hosts

supports HTTP 1.1 persistent connections

stores user’s credentials in config file or requests password from a console during the start time

supports intelligent failure detection and failover between multiple upstream proxies

Installation

Download NTLM Authorization Proxy Server Windows version here

Extract the compressed file to single folder in your hard drive

Edit file called server.cfg using text editor (notepad), this is the configuration file

Look on [GENERAL] section

PARENT_PROXY

your office proxy server address, eg. 10.10.10.1

PARENT_PROXY_PORT

your office proxy server port, eg. 8080

Look on [NTLM_AUTH] section

NT_DOMAIN

your company domain

USERNAME

your account name

PASSWORD

your password

Save and close the file

Run NTLM-APS.exe

Change your browser proxy setting to localhost with port 5865

Alternative Software
There is also another open source software, Cntlm Authentication Proxy – works similarly to NTLMAPS but it’s faster, it also have an ability to encrypt your password. Cntlm will be installed as Windows Service application. You can download it from SourceForge.

What is NTLM?
NTLM (NT LAN Manager) is a Microsoft authentication protocol used with the SMB protocol. MS-CHAP is similar and is used for authentication with Microsoft remote access protocols. During protocol negotiation, the internal name is nt lm 0.12. The version number 0.12 has not been explained. It is the successor of LANMAN (Microsoft LAN Manager), an older Microsoft authentication protocol, and attempted to be backwards compatible with LANMAN. NTLM was followed by NTLMv2, at which time the original was renamed NTLMv1.

How Proxy Authentication Works?
Proxies can serve as access-control devices. HTTP defines a mechanism called proxy authentication that blocks requests for content until the user provides valid access-permission credentials to the proxy.

When a request for restricted content arrives at a proxy server, the proxy server can return a 407 Proxy Authorization Required status code demanding access credentials, accompanied by a Proxy-Authenticate header field that describes how to provide those credentials.
When the client receives the 407 response, it attempts to gather the required credentials, either from a local database or by prompting the user.
Once the credentials are obtained, the client resends the request, providing the required credentials in a Proxy-Authorization header field.
If the credentials are valid, the proxy passes the original request along the chain; otherwise, another 407 reply is sent.
