With Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) you can talk to your friends all accross the world for free. VoIP call sound quality is just as good as regular phone calls, you won’t notice the differences. All you need is a phone with VoIP support.
You can call someone on a computer or other VoIP device phone number without extra cost. However, if you call a local public telephone or mobile phone, your VoIP call data must be redirected to a regular telephone signal, which usually needs a subscription cost.
Now you can use VoIP service in Indonesia, Onno W. Purbo, Anton Raharja (founder) and his friends build a service called VoIP Rakyat. You can also use the service to call regular phones with third party vouchers (iMax Indonesia), and the call rate:

Instructions
Now here are some instructions that allow you to use VoIP Rakyat service:
- First off, register here, then you should see page below. Write down the details I circled, thats all you need to use it.
- Now setup your Nokia phone, go to Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > SIP settings, and follow the details below.
Profile name VoIP Rakyat Service profile IETF Default access point choose wifi connection Public user name sip:userid@voiprakyat.or.id Use compression no Registration When needed Use security no Proxy server leave the defaults Registrar server * Registrar server address sip:voiprakyat.or.id * Realm voiprakyat.or.id * User name userid * Password yourpassword * Transport type Auto * Port 5060 Note: userid is your 5 digit phone number.
- After that, go back to Connection menu and choose Internet tel, and follow the details below.
Name VoIP Rakyat SIP profiles VoIP Rakyat - That’s all the settings needed, now to use it go back to Menu > Tools > Connectivity > Internet tel, it will find an available WIFI access point. If you do it right, you should see the VoIP icon on top right of your phone screen. Voila! Your phone is now ready to make a VoIP call!
- Now to test your VoIP connection, you can call 901, press option, choose Internet call, you should hear voice telling current time.
